OUR CHAPTER IS BEGINNING AN ENTIRELY NEW YEAR UNDER A RENEWED CHARTER. The Installation of Officers and Re-Activation Ceremony in December and our first regular meeting in the new year held last Tuesday evening at FW 4848 gives us a running start to become successful in 2013. We need to be recruiting new members and reaching out to various components of our community, namely, Military parades, ceremonies and JROTC awards. John Woodham of Vice-Chairman is the Chairman for the Awards Committee, and Paul Harwart and Al Conrad are the members. These airborne vets are instructors with the N. GA and Hamilton County JROTC units in our various high schools. Our chapter will be providing distinguished awards to deserving cadets who excel in leadership and academics.
Participation in chapter activities is essential to the success of any organization. It is imperative upon the leadership to insure that chapter meetings are on time, meaningful and enjoyable. To this end I am asking John Woodham our newly appointed Historian to present a short summation of an important event in our illustrious US military airborne history. I am also going to ask a member to share a short personal testimony of their experiences in airborne units and communities. These inclusions to our meeting agenda hopefully will add interest and spur increased attendance.
Please check out our Calendar for 2013 for opportunities to participate with us in important occasions during this coming year.
Our current by-laws are outdated and may be unserviceable to our current needs. They were last reviewed and approved back in 1990’s. During this year we will be making pen and ink changes to these by-laws to insure that they are up-to-date and make sense in today’s environment. Any suggestions you as a member have can be directed to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or to our secretary, Andy Forrester at email@example.com.
ATLANTA AIRBORNE AWARDS CELEBRATION. Several of our older members have participated in the past with the Atlanta Chapter and their annual Airborne Awards Celebration. This year it will be held 3-6 April. The 82nd Airborne Division report will be on Thursday afternoon. On Friday, April 5th the group is making a day trip to Fort Benning, GA to view an Airborne 5000 demonstration and possibly visit the US Infantry Museum. The event will be hosted at the Atlanta Marriot Hotel. If anyone is interested in attending you can sign up by visiting the Atlanta Chapter link on our homepage, or the link on the Chapter News page link.
